Chapter 1. Figure 5. The Idaho Technology LC 24 was the first commercial carousel LightCycler, first sold in 1996. While the prototype used discrete excitation and emission paths, xenon lamp excitation and PMT detection, the commercial product used epifluorescent interrogation of the capillary tip, LEDs and photodiodes.
