Section B. Figure 5. Acanthamoeba cyst walls possess glycans. Acanthamoeba cysts were stained with Periodic Acid-Schiff (PAS) and observed under an optical light microscope. The results revealed staining of the inner wall (endocyst) as well as the outer wall layer (ectocyst), suggesting the presence of glycol-containing components. X400.
