Abstract

As modern biological research has developed, so has the analysis of Neurospora biology. From beginnings as a simple genetic system to the present where high throughput analysis enables questions in every area of biological inquiry, research on Neurospora continues to set a high standard for all filamentous fungal experimental systems. Analysis of materials developed over fifty years at the Fungal Genetics Stock Center (FGSC) using a variety of techniques including genetic mapping, cosmid walking, and gene and whole genome sequencing reveals both new information and reinforces discoveries made over many years. Neurospora is and will continue to be the premier organism for studies of the biology of filamentous fungi read more ...
