Abstract

The haploid amoeba Dictyostelium has proven to be a suitable model system for studying cellular aspects of Legionnaires' disease. In this review we describe both Legionella and Dictyostelium factors and processes that are relevant to infection. Moreover, we summarize the results of the Dictyostelium transcriptional host cell response to infection and discuss how genetic and molecular biology techiques available for Dictyostelium can further improve our knowledge of Legionella-host cross-talk read more ...
