Abstract
Tumors harbor many epigenetic alterations affecting, among other things, genomic DNA methylation and histone post-translational modifications. Different epigenetic alterations are associated with the specific characteristics of each type of tumor, which has led to exploration of their potential use as clinical tumoral markers. Indeed, recent evidence increasingly points to epigenetic markers being a promising clinical tool for diagnosis, prognosis and therapy in cancer.
