Learning About Recombination in Campylobacter

Abstract
How important a role does recombination play in the evolution of Campylobacter? In this chapter we overview some of the methods people have used to answer this question. The focus is on the importance of recombination relative to mutation in terms of generating genetic diversity within C. jejuni. We see that recombination events appear to occur at a similar rate to mutation, but can potentially have a much greater effect in terms of the changes it makes on the DNA sequence.
