Abstract

The closing of the last gap of the genome sequence of Corynebacterium glutamicum opened a new door to insight in physiology and genetics. For example, longtime overlooked pathways for aromatic degradation and assimilation by C. glutamicum were discovered by the access to genome data, and broad knowledge on the physiology and genetics of aromatic degradation and assimilation by C. glutamicum has been accumulated in the last ten years.
