Abstract
Despite the efficient spread of arboviral diseases, the mosquito represents a bottleneck in the transmission of pathogenic viruses. Within the mosquito, arboviruses have to overcome several barriers, imposed by the mosquito innate immune system, microbiota and other factors, to reach the salivary glands from where they can be transmitted to a new host.
